This little corner of the world is a beautiful place. Where one would think all is well. It is peaceful, charming, quiet, and a step back in time. There are some who want it to stay the way it has always been. I say what if we made a change?
What if the next time we see someone who is different from us, we accept them for who they are? No matter what. No exceptions. We may say we already do that, but are we sure? This is not just for those who are in our own circle of friends or acquaintances. This is for people of other races, religions, creeds, speak different languages, and are gay or straight. Those who look different from us. They have long hair, short hair, brightly colored or spiked hair, body-piercings, and wear different clothes. Those who are taller, shorter, rounder, slimmer, or have any kind of disfigurations or disabilities. Yes, this even includes those who have a differing point of view from us. We could learn so much. By accepting differences, we can embrace what we have in common. We all want to love and be loved. We all feel pain and hurt.
This weekend the movie, "Pay It Forward"
with Helen Hunt, Haley Joel Osmend, and Kevin Spacey was on television.
The theme of the movie is when someone does us a good deed, we
pay it forward by doing good deeds for three other people and
so on. It was just a movie, but why not try it? Our little corner
of the world could teach others and who knows in this time of
unrest what could happen!
